Security measures for the LO Stonehouse walking bridge will be up for discussion at Chatham-Kent’s next council meeting. Councillor Carmen McGregor submitted a notice of motion on Monday, asking administration to prepare a report outlining the cost of vandalism-related repairs, repair timelines, potential funding sources, and security recommendations for the Wallaceburg pedestrian bridge. “The LO Stonehouse… has been vandalized for the second time this year, resulting in significant damage to the electrical infrastructure that operates the bridge and rendering the lift span inoperable,” said Councillor Carmen McGregor. “Repeated acts of vandalism against critical municipal infrastructure result in increased costs to taxpayers, disruptions to public access, and impacts on community events and services.” McGregor said she hopes some items can be removed from the motion before it comes to council on August 10, if repairs have been completed.
