Greek authorities have arrested four people in connection with the fire on Paros. Among those arrested is the Mayor of the island. Following an investigation into the cause and circumstances of the blaze by fire investigation officers, authorities arrested the mayor of Paros, the island’s deputy mayor responsible for sanitation, the contractor managing the waste disposal facility and a municipal employee who works as a garbage truck driver. In the context of the immediate proceedings, the Mayor, the Deputy Mayor for Cleaning, the waste management contractor and a garbage truck driver were arrested by a prosecutor’s order. UPDATE:The four people arrested were released by the judicial authorities on Syros.
