World Bank Confirms Guyana’s High Income StatusGuyana has retained its position among the Caribbean’s high income economies, while Jamaica continues to be classified as an upper middle income country in the World Bank’s latest annual income assessment.
Jamaica remains in the upper middle income category, which covers countries with GNI per capita ranging from US$4,636 to US$14,375.
Guyana is listed alongside other Caribbean high income economies, including Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, St. Kitts and Nevis, and Trinidad and Tobago.
The upper middle income group includes Belize, Cuba, Dominica, Grenada, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Suriname.
Six countries recorded upward changes, with Jordan, Micronesia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka and Viet Nam advancing from lower middle income to upper middle income status, while Togo moved from low income to lower middle income.
