Lee Bul Announces First Hauser & Wirth New York Show
['Gerda Krivaite']
Our Culture
Hauser & Wirth is set to present its first exhibition with celebrated South Korean artist Lee Bul this autumn, opening at the gallery’s 22nd Street location in New York from 10 September to 24 October 2026.
Spanning sculpture, installation and painting, the exhibition examines the tension between utopian ambition and inevitable collapse.
Lee Bul first gained international recognition in the 1990s for genre-defying works that combined cyborg imagery with questions of gender, posthumanism and political change.
One of the most influential contemporary artists working today, Lee’s work is held in major collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Tate Modern and the Guggenheim Museum.
The exhibition follows a major touring survey organised by Seoul’s Leeum Museum of Art and Hong Kong’s M+, further cementing her international reputation as a leading voice in contemporary art.
