Scottish graduate develops social enterprise to help keep girls in educationA visit to a school in The Gambia has inspired a Scottish graduate to develop an innovative social enterprise which will tackle period poverty and help keep more girls in education. Seeing young people without things we take for granted in the UK stayed with me long after I came home. She transformed an experience that stayed with her long after returning home into a business idea with the potential to make a meaningful difference. The OU’s participation in the Challenge was part of the OU’s Open Business Creators initiative, which supports student entrepreneurship. Those are the figures I want to see grow, and the reason I want to keep developing the idea.”
