600 kg black jaggery meant for brewing illicit liquor seized

Kalwakurthy (Nagarkurnool): The Excise Department officials seized a large quantity of black jaggery and other raw materials allegedly being transported for manufacturing illicit liquor during vehicle inspections at Veldanda mandal in the district on Wednesday.
According to Kalwakurthy Excise Circle Inspector J Venkat Reddy, the team intercepted a Scorpio vehicle on the outskirts of Veldanda.
During the inspection, the officials found that the vehicle was carrying 600 kg of black jaggery powder (20 bags) and 120 kg of fermentation tablets, which were allegedly purchased from Begum Bazaar in Hyderabad.
The officials arrested the accused and seized the Scorpio vehicle along with the black jaggery and fermentation tablets.
CI Venkat Reddy warned that strict action would be taken against anyone involved in the manufacture, sale or transportation of illicit liquor within the Kalwakurthy Excise Circle.
