Mahabubnagar: MLA Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy on Wednesday released irrigation water into the right canal of the Priyadarshini Jurala Project after offering special prayers to River Krishna. He said that despite reduced rainfall due to the El Niño effect, the government had decided to release water to support farmers during the crop sowing season. He added that irrigation water would benefit nearly 30 lakh acres. The MLA urged farmers to use water judiciously, avoid wastage and plan cultivation in phases so that sufficient water is available for two crop seasons. He said water would also be released downstream to the Jurala Project from the Narayanpur Dam.
