The centre is planned for land next to Camulos Academy on Whitmore Drive, transforming an existing hardstanding area into a dedicated community hub. Funding for the project would come through Section 106 developer contributions, alongside a £130,000 commitment from Myland Community Council. Colchester Council commissioned Barefoot and Gilles Architects to develop the plans, working with councillors, community groups and clubs to ensure the design reflects local needs while remaining within budget. Councillor Alison Jay, chair of Myland Community Council, added: "It's really encouraging to see the strong support of residents for a new community centre at Kingswood Heath. "Myland Community Council is pleased to be contributing £130,000 towards the project, helping bring us closer to delivering a facility that will support local residents and bring people together."
