Following the Federal Government’s approval of ₦46 billion for the resurfacing and reconstruction of the second runway at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano, northerners have been advised to appreciate the gesture by President Bola Tinubu, saying the approval demonstrates his commitment to the region.
AdvertisementThe Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, announced the approval while commissioning the airport’s newly remodelled Muhammadu Adamu Dankabo Domestic Terminal.
Keyamo said about 60 per cent of the contract sum had already been released and that the contractor had mobilised to the site.
He described the project as part of efforts to upgrade the Kano airport and strengthen its position as a major aviation and commercial gateway for Northern Nigeria.
He explained that upon completion of the resurfacing of the second runway, the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport would regain its lost glory as the economic gateway to Northern Nigeria.
