A construction inspector employed by Lochner was killed and four other workers, one of whom is employed by Wichita-based Atlas Electric, were injured July 28 when a pickup truck veered off Interstate 135 and struck five construction workers in Saline County, Kan., according to the Kansas Dept. It then skidded, hit the guardrail and overturned into the grassy area behind the guardrail where it struck the workers. One worker, identified as Toby Marco, 55, of Abilene, Kan., who was employed by Lochner, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other workers sustained critical injuries and were transported to Wichita-area hospitals. A similar fatal crash occurred in Baltimore in 2023, when six construction workers were killed when an apparently out-of-control passenger car careened into a work zone along the Interstate-695 Beltway in Baltimore.
