| BY Adam Shaw |GIGIL Philippines has created a new film for GrabUnlimited that encourages Filipinos to rethink what it really means to save, arguing that cutting costs shouldn’t come at the expense of time, comfort or peace of mind.
Built around a familiar truth: when times are tough, Filipinos tighten their belts by walking instead of booking a ride, cooking instead of ordering in, or taking extra steps to save a few pesos.
While these choices may appear cheaper upfront, they often come with hidden costs in convenience, energy and time.
To bring this insight to life, GIGIL takes the well-known expression “tightening one’s belt” and turns it into an absurd visual metaphor.
The film stars viral Filipino internet personality Ian Mark, whose trademark tightly fastened belt and signature pitik dance made him the ideal choice to embody the idea.
