Pioneer Bishop of Cameroon’s Mamfe Diocese Dies at 87, Eulogized for “Courage, Vision, Servant Leadership”

Bishop Francis Teke Lysinge, the pioneer Local Ordinary of the Catholic Diocese of Mamfe in Cameroon, has passed on at the age of 87.
Bishop Francis Teke Lysinge died on Wednesday, July 29, at 11:30 a.m. at St. John of God Health Centre in Mamfe, the Local Ordinary of the Cameroonian Diocese, Bishop Aloysius Fondong Abangalo, announced in a statement.
According to the Local Ordinary of Mamfe, the late Bishop Lysinge spent long hours before the Blessed Sacrament discerning God's will and embraced it "with fidelity, courage, simplicity, and joy" whenever it became clear to him.
Reflecting on his legacy, Bishop Abangalo thanked God for the late Bishop's unwavering faith, which he said was rooted in the Word of God, nourished through prayer and the Sacraments, and strengthened by a profound devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
