EV fast-charger cables cut and stolen from Metro Vancouver rec complex

The Port Moody Police Department said that multiple fast-chargers were damaged early Tuesday morning at the Port Moody Recreation Complex on Ioco Road.
“Officers attended the scene and noted 6 of the cables had been cut and subsequently stolen, rendering the fast-chargers inoperable,” Port Moody Police said in a release.
Daily Hive has also reached out to BC Hydro for more information and to ask if this kind of thing happens often with EV fast-charger stations in Metro Vancouver.

Since October 2025, there have been 44 cable theft incidents at 22 BC Hydro fast-charging sites across the province,” a BC Hydro spokesperson added.
