Kano Airport Opens Terminal, Plans ₦46bn Runway Work

Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, commissioned a remodelled domestic terminal at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport and announced further upgrades to the airport.
The terminal was named the Muhammadu Adamu Dankabo Domestic Terminal in honour of a Kano aviation pioneer.
Okay News reports that the federal government has also started upgrading the airport’s Hajj terminal, with contractors already working at the site.
Okay News reported that the reconstruction of Lagos’ international airport terminal had begun, prompting a travel advisory from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria.
Keyamo said the Kano runway reconstruction and Hajj terminal work would proceed alongside the newly commissioned domestic terminal.
