OSOGBO, Osun State, Nigeria —The Osun State Police Command has arrested and detained the Secretary to the State Government, Teslim Igbalaye, and five other men following a raid on his residence in Osogbo, the state capital. Abiodun Ojelabi, spokesperson for the Osun State Police Command, confirmed the arrests in a statement, saying officers entered the property while acting on intelligence that suspected members of a criminal group were hiding there. Igbalaye was identified in the police statement as 47, while Abiodun was listed as 38. The command said officers recovered ₦4,810,500, two Permanent Voter Cards, a voter register covering Wards 1 to 15, a Dynabook laptop, a photocopier and a printer from the residence. The Osun State Government separately challenged the circumstances of the raid, accusing the police of entering Igbalaye’s residence without a search warrant.
