Over the weekend (July 25-26), officers from the town's neighbourhood policing team joined with colleagues from the Safer Towns team to carry out a joint operation targeting antisocial behaviour and crime in the town centre and "other hotspots". Police said the op bore some of their "quickest results", as within a few minutes of going out on patrol a "suspected drug dealer" tried to run away from officers. Officers searched the nearby area and uncovered a package containing suspected Class A drugs. The suspected drug dealer, who police described as a "local man", was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs. Thames Valley Police said they plan to carry out more such operations in the coming weeks and months.
