Marlon West, Restore Britain’s candidate for Mayor of Greater Manchester, has said he will oppose any further release of green belt land in Bury beyond what has already been committed under current plans. The sites lost their green belt designation under Greater Manchester's Places for Everyone plan, adopted in March 2024. Marlon West said: "The Metrolink stop promised at Elton Reservoir is transport infrastructure, and transport funding runs through the Mayor's office. If any candidate wins more than 50 per cent of the first-choice votes, they are declared the winner. The candidate with the highest overall total of first- and second-choice votes is declared the winner.
