Wendell Chapman, age 97, of Pembroke, passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at his home of natural causes. The family has chosen cremation, and Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle those arrangements. Wendell was born in Roseville, IL, on June 6, 1929, the son of the late Carl and Inez Feagans Chapman. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Dixie Chapman; his son, Fred L. Chapman; his daughter, Lori Chapman Haile; and his two sisters, Mary Ruth Williams and Gayle Roche. Survivors include his son, Mark L. (Becky) Chapman of Lexington, KY; his daughters, Cathy Smith and Cindy G. Smith, both of Pembroke, KY; his fifteen grandchildren; his thirty-eight great-grandchildren; and his twenty-two great-great-grandchildren.
