Winchester city centre car park earmarked for 30-home affordable housing scheme

The site was cleared for a temporary car park in the 1980s but is still use 40 years on.
A council spokesperson said: "Back in March, the St Peter’s Car Park site was included in our newly adopted Local Plan with an allocation of around 30 homes.
There are approximately 186 spaces at St Peter's car park.
The car park, built in the 1980s by Winchester City Council as a temporary facility, currently offers around 186 parking spaces.
The St Peter's site is an ideal opportunity to bring truly affordable, social rent back to a city central location.
