During the flight, an “emergency situation” arose on board the aircraft due to a malfunction, following which the pilot ejected and has been successfully recovered, the Ukrainian Air Force reported. Specialists and law enforcement officials are working at the scene to determine the cause of the crash of the combat aircraft. Ukraine uses its F-16s to strike at Russian missiles and UAVs with its air-to-air missiles. On an earlier occasion, Ukraine lost an F-16 when it hit an incoming Russian missile but was itself struck by a succeeding one.
