A man faces multiple potential driving charges after police were forced into a high speed chase along the main road from Belfast to Newry on Wednesday afternoon. Officers from the PSNI’s auto crime team were deployed to where the now stolen vehicle was last seen and began following as it was driven southbound on the A1. A high speed chase began along the A1 all the way to Newry, with offices believing the driver was trying to break for the border. At the Carnbane roundabout on slip near Newry, the driver of the Passat attempted to turn and make towards Newry, the wrong way. The driver was arrested on suspicion of aggravated taking and driving away, dangerous driving, driving with excess alcohol and driving whilst disqualified, among other charges.
