The Fair Employment (NI) Act makes religious and political discrimination in employment, discriminatory advertising, or inducing a person to discriminate in employment on religious or political grounds, unlawful. An employee will normally be entitled to a minimum of one week’s notice after four weeks’ service, two weeks’ notice after two years’ service and an additional week’s notice for every year thereafter up to a maximum of 12 weeks’ notice after 12 years’ service.
