A new community organization is working to introduce more South Okanagan youth to pickleball, with programs expanding into more schools this fall. The South Okanagan Youth Pickleball Association) formed six months ago and has already delivered introductory clinics at schools in Penticton, Summerland and Oliver, reaching hundreds of elementary students. SOYPA has also offered programs at Summerland Elementary, Trout Creek Elementary, KVR Elementary, Columbia Elementary and SenPokchin Elementary. The association is also planning its first South Okanagan youth pickleball tournament on Sept. 26, with players expected from communities throughout the Okanagan.
