Hyderabad: Indian Bank has launched the `IND-GIG CHAMPION’ Savings Account, a dedicated banking product for app-based drivers, delivery workers, freelancers and other platform workers. The bank and the union said a large-scale account opening drive would soon be organised to extend the benefits to thousands of gig workers across Telangana. The savings account is designed exclusively for gig and platform workers and offers a zero-balance account, ₹5 lakh group personal accident insurance for eligible account holders, and fully digital banking services. A free zero-balance savings account along with ₹5 lakh accidental insurance coverage will provide much-needed protection and encourage greater financial inclusion. We thank Indian Bank for recognising the needs of gig workers and partnering with TGPWU in this important initiative," he said.
