‘Go Daisy Go’: 2026’s art punk opus played on Dee Dee Ramone’s bassFor a band that never quite broke into the mainstream, you don’t need to delve into the realm of punk, garage, or art rock for very long before inevitably encountering the influence of the Ramones. One of the most recent and most overt examples of that enduring influence comes courtesy of the Cleveland, Ohio, duo Liquid Images, and their recent single ‘Long Response’, along with its arguably superior B-side ‘Go Daisy Go’. Neither side of that recent Quality Time Records-released single, for instance, boasts either the speed or leather-jacketed attitude of the Ramones’ heyday. They do, however, share a much more tangible connection with the New York punk heroes, in that the recordings feature Dee Dee Ramone’s actual bass guitar, from his incredibly brief period performing with GG Allin and the Murder Junkies back in the early 1990s. Now, that energy has been transposed into the slacker art-rock sound of Liquid Images, whose captivatingly fuzzy, DIY output is deserving of far more attention than Dee Dee Ramone’s post-Ramones years were ever afforded.
