Srinagar, July 29: National Conference (NC) president Dr Farooq Abdullah on Wednesday questioned the Centre's silence over the recent violence in Pakistan-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), asking why the Union Government was not speaking out if it continued to maintain that the territory was an integral part of India. Addressing reporters in Srinagar, Abdullah said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar should publicly raise the issue and condemn the violence. "They repeatedly say that PoJK is our part. The former Union minister said he had consistently urged the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) to visit PoJK and assess the situation on the ground. Abdullah said he had not heard any statement from the Centre calling for an end to the violence in the region.
