The latest Office for National Statistics (ONS) estimates show East Cambridgeshire’s population grew by 1.5 per cent between mid-2024 and mid-2025 to 94,599. East Cambridgeshire therefore made it into the top 25 local authority areas in England and Wales with the greatest population increase, out of more than 300 total regions. According to the ONS, population growth in England and Wales has slowed to its lowest rate since the Covid-19 pandemic. South Cambridgeshire also saw an increase, with its population growing by 1.22 per cent to 174,641 in mid-2025. The population of Huntingdonshire rose by 0.83 per cent to 191,941, while Fenland's population reached 105,930, up by 0.46 per cent.
