Offenders have used the fake notes to pay for items bought through online platforms, including Facebook Marketplace, as well as in shops. A Thames Valley Police officer said:"We would like to make residents and local businesses aware that we have recently received a number of reports of counterfeit bank notes being used in the Bracknell area. "We have also received reports from several retail premises where counterfeit notes have been accepted as payment. "Please be aware that the counterfeit notes being seized are very convincing and can be difficult to identify at first glance." They said:"If selling items through Marketplace or other online platforms, take time to carefully examine bank notes before completing the transaction.
