Ascot Racecourse has applied to install an automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) system in Car Park 3 on Ascot High Street, managed solely by Ascot Racecourse Limited. Car abandoned after police chase through Berkshire townA spokesperson for Ascot Racecourse said: "Car Park Three is being used more and more frequently as free all day station parking, putting pressure on the car park and High Street generally." "The charge will bring Car Park Three into line with the dedicated station car park and discourage station users from further afield." The car park serves staff, contractors, guests, and racegoers, and is also used by members of the public outside of race days. The charges are also expected to contribute to ongoing maintenance of the car park.
