Photo: Telford & Wrekin CouncilTelford & Wrekin Council launched an investigation after receiving reports from members of the public regarding a pile of construction debris left on local authority property. Because the fly-tipped material remained on council land, local authority teams were forced to step in and clear the site themselves, incurring cleanup costs funded by local residents. In this case, following reports from the community, council officers investigated the matter, identified the source of the waste and contacted the resident responsible. “Taking action against fly-tipping helps protect taxpayers’ money, keeps our neighbourhoods clean and ensures responsible residents are not left footing the bill for someone else’s actions.” Telford & Wrekin Council is reminding householders across the borough that waste must always be disposed of through legitimate, legal channels.
