In the early hours of Thursday, Telangana police detained the Unemployed Joint Action Committee Chairman Indra Nayak who reportedly called for a protest over the vacancies in the police recruitment. The unemployed have for long been demanding the government fill up all 19,000 vacancies instead of 7,437 posts in the Police department. “Despite around 19,000 vacancies in the Police department, the government only issued recruitment notifications for 7,437 posts, leaving the unemployed extremely disappointed.
