A 51-year-old man was rushed to hospital after he was stabbed Tuesday night while trying to help a woman who appeared to be suffering from an overdose, Winnipeg police say. A 31-year-old man, who was known to the woman who appeared to be overdosing, was arrested a short time later in connection with the attack, police said in a Wednesday news release. The 51-year-old victim had stopped to help the woman in Elva Fletcher Way, a park at the northwest corner of Osborne Street and Jubilee Avenue, around 9:15 p.m. when he was attacked and stabbed in the upper body, police said. The stabbing happened in Elva Fletcher Way, a park located at the northwest corner of Osborne Street and Jubilee Avenue. The man is charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon.
