A Saskatoon city councillor raised the possibility of children under six riding the bus unsupervised to argue against removing rules from a new transit bylaw requiring they be accompanied. Council voted 7-4 in June against removing the section, which was based on existing rules at city-run swimming pools. (Chanss Lagaden/CBC)Jeffries said he switched his vote because of a lack of evidence unsupervised young children on buses have been a problem. Donauer and Dubois argued against adding to the burden faced by bus drivers by making them responsible for young children who might board the bus. Dubois also pointed out there are age restrictions that require supervision of young children at libraries.
