— Rapid City Area Schools officials will hold a series of public information sessions about the proposed school bond referendum residents will vote on in November. ADVERTISEMENTProjects targeted with this bond issue would be:Heating, cooling and ventilation system upgrades at Horace Mann Elementary, Meadowbrook Elementary, and North Middle Schools;Safety upgrades at Black Hawk Elementary, Grandview Elementary, Knollwood Elementary, Southwest Middle, and West Middle Schools;South Park Elementary School addition & renovation;A new elementary school is proposed at the Parkview property in south Rapid City; and,Stevens High School safety improvements. "These information sessions are an opportunity to learn more about the proposal, ask questions, and have open conversations with district leadership." RCAS last asked voters to approve a school bond in 2020. A 56 percent majority of voters approved the referendum, but that fell short of the 60% supermajority needed for passage.
