The Bemidji Pioneer is partnering with the United Way of Bemidji Area and Long-Term Storm Recovery Committee to highlight those working behind the scenes to help the community recover from the June 2025 storm.
The first Storm Recovery Edition of the Volunteer Spotlight is Ashley Putnum, who, with her husband Brian, owns Kohl's Resort on Big Turtle Lake in Bemidji.
Many of these crews told the United Way they are used to bunking in church basements or empty warehouses.
And because they kept showing up, they and the United Way have been able to help hundreds of families recover from the devastating storm.
