US EV Market Slumps, But New Models May Lift Interest

Electric vehicle (EV) sales in the US have swung into reverse this year, with a sharp decline in volumes in the first half of this year — in sharp contrast to Europe and emerging markets.
The market has been hit by policy reversals, consumer misgivings and high up-front EV price tags, even as prices at the pump rose.
Some now see the US becoming a global outlier as EV sales in the rest of the world advance.
Others hope EVs will gain traction as new models hit the market, ranges improve and prices fall.
