Federal authorities on Wednesday shed light on how FIFA World Cup events were held safely while emphasizing their "zero tolerance policy" for drones during major sporting events, including the 2027 Super Bowl and 2028 LA Olympics.
Officials with the Federal Bureau of Investigation Los Angeles office touted the World Cup events, attended by over 6.8 million visitors across the country, completed without a significant incident despite having more visitors than the 1994 World Cup.
During large events like the World Cup or natural disasters, the Federal Aviation Administration typically issues temporary flight restrictions.
He added, having learned lessons from the FIFA World Cup, the FBI is "full speed ahead" in preparing for the Super Bowl in February 2027 and the 2028 LA Olympics.
"We are one of the host cities for FIFA World Cup games.
