The Los Angeles Zoo has welcomed four Boer goat kids that were being cared for at Covina High School through its Future Farmers of America (FFA) program, the zoo announced Wednesday. Before heading to the zoo, FFA students cared for the goats’ mothers and assisted with the care of the kids. Boer goats — "boer" meaning "to farm" in Dutch — originated from South Africa and arrived in the U.S. in the early 1990s. Visitors can go see and pet the young goats at the Winnick Family Children’s Zoo from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., every day except Thursdays.
