Brazilian repair specialists Paulo Gomes and SidNelson have documented recurring short-circuit failures on Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4060 boards. Their investigation concentrated on the RTX 4060 Aero and found severe PCB carbonization near the HDMI output. The technicians argue that the failure originates in the GPU power circuit rather than from an external surge through HDMI. The tested Gigabyte board showed substantially different switching frequencies and duty cycles between phases, including one phase moving between roughly 150 and 300kHz. The tested boards carried 2023 production markings, and it remains unknown whether every Gigabyte RTX 4060 model or PCB revision uses the same component arrangement.
