SRINAGAR: US forces carried out a major wave of strikes against Iran on Wednesday night in response to an attempted missile attack on American personnel in the Middle East, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said. In a statement, CENTCOM said the strikes were completed at 10 p.m. The targets included military command centres, missile and drone installations, coastal surveillance and defence positions, and maritime capabilities, according to the US military. The strikes came a day after what CENTCOM described as an attempted surprise attack by IRGC forces on July 28, when Iran launched multiple ballistic missiles towards US forces stationed in the Middle East. Meanwhile, Iranian media reported that a residential area on Qeshm Island was hit during a new wave of US missile strikes in southern Iran.
