Title-winning coach Steve Corica’s replacement at Auckland FC has been confirmed, with Portuguese mentor Pedro Moreira to take charge of the Black Knights. Having guided the Kiwi outfit to last season’s A-League championship, former Sydney FC coach Corica parted ways with Auckland last month to take over at Japanese club Yokohama F. Marinos. “This is a young club, but a highly successful club that has set the bar in terms of performance.” Black Knights sporting director Terry McFlynn said replacing Corica was “always going to be a big challenge”. Moreira’s first competitive game in charge of the Black Knights will be a first-round 2026 FIFA Intercontinental Cup clash on August 26 against Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli.
