Cadent, the UK's largest gas distribution network, has announced it will reinforce ageing gas pipes in Heybridge as part of a wider programme of infrastructure improvements across the East of England. The work will involve upgrading 265 metres of gas mains using durable new plastic pipes designed to last for decades and help future-proof the network. Engineers are scheduled to begin work on August 19, with the project expected to take around seven weeks to complete. The scheme forms part of a £123 million investment programme that will see more than 395 kilometres of gas pipes upgraded across the region this year. “We are very conscious of the disruption works like this cause and hope people understand this project is essential to maintain a long-term safe gas supply.”
