Tom Rose admits that he was ready to retire after more than 40 years of coaching at Nutley American Little League. This year’s Nutley American 10U All-Stars has not only made the baseball lifer change his mind, but established itself as one of the most memorable groups he’s had the pleasure to coach. Showing a flair for the dramatic and a knack for winning close games, Nutley American won the 10U District 8 title on July 13, defeating Caldwell East in a three-hour marathon. Nutley American had previously lost to Caldwell East, but after defeating Bloomfield/Glen Ridge, rallied to beat Caldwell East twice for the championship. Leading a deep pitching staff for Nutley American was the duo Francis DeVino and Anthony DiPalo.
