An essential gas network upgrade by Wales & West Utilities on Preston Road in Yeovil, Somerset, has closed part of the route until September 4 of this year, affecting traffic near the Asda supermarket. The works have forced the closure of the left-hand lane on Lufton Way, using traffic cones, approaching the Asda roundabout. A Somerset motorist, who asked not to be named, said: "I get that Preston Road needs to be closed, but to shut off an entire lane on the other side of the roundabout is completely unnecessary. Roxanne Whittaker, programme controller at Wales & West Utilities, said: "We’re working in the Preston Road area of Yeovil to upgrade the gas network.
