Naval rating Simon Parkes was just 18 when he vanished without trace in the final leg of a worldwide deployment on HMS Illustrious in 1986. Simon's body has never been found and his family had expressed horror at his potential release with a first parole bid turned down last year. The Parkes family have fought a long-running battle for answers and a recent dig in Gibraltar failed to give them the answers they've craved.
