Rocket From the Crypt is turning an unlikely recovery story into an intriguing archival release.
The punk-inflected San Diego veterans have announced Scream Frankenstein Scream, a newly restored collection of early recordings that would eventually evolve into their landmark 1995 major label debut for Interscope, Scream Dracula Scream.
According to the band, which was active from 1990-2005 before reuniting in 2013, friends and fans quickly stepped in to recover the tapes and return them to Rocket From the Crypt.
Once reunited with the reels, the group matched them to a handwritten, coffee-stained track sheet tucked inside the box and realized it had uncovered an early attempt at documenting what became Scream Dracula Scream.
In true Rocket From the Crypt fashion, however, the release won’t be easy to find.
