The warning comes as half of England has now been declared in drought following exceptionally low rainfall and high temperatures. While Herefordshire is served by Welsh Water and is not currently subject to restrictions, residents are being urged to use water carefully. The Environment Agency has also carried out fish rescue operations on rivers including the Teme, where low water levels have created unsuitable conditions for aquatic life.
