Former Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Tan Sri Rais Yatim has been stripped of two state honours after the Negeri Sembilan palace revoked the titles with immediate effect. The honours revoked were the Darjah Seri Utama Negeri Sembilan (SPNS), which was conferred on Rais in 2001 and carries the title Dato’ Seri Utama, as well as the Darjah Dato’ Setia Negeri Sembilan (DSNS), awarded in 1979 and which carries the title Dato’. In a brief statement today, State Secretary Datuk Mohd Zafir Ibrahim said the decision was made on the decree of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan. “Duli Yang Maha Mulia Yang di-Pertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan has decreed the revocation of both titles with immediate effect. “This decision was made to safeguard the majesty, dignity and honour of the Negeri Sembilan royal institution,” he said.
