Clark County has opened a network of cooling stations throughout the Las Vegas Valley to give residents a place to escape dangerously high temperatures, with the effort running through July 30 as an extreme heat warning remains in place. Participating locations include community centers, recreation centers, libraries, homeless resource centers, and Salvation Army facilities spread across Las Vegas, Henderson, and North Las Vegas, and county officials noted that a handful of sites outside the valley are also taking part. Among the sites named by the county are the Courtyard Homeless Resource Center, the Cambridge Recreation Center, and the Salvation Army location on Foremaster Lane in Las Vegas. Henderson's library branches and senior centers are participating as well, along with additional branches of the Clark County Library District. County-issued flyers detailing the cooling station network list hours of operation, addresses, and phone numbers so residents can find the resource nearest them before heading out.
