An initiative to ban all hunting, fishing, ranching, and even the killing of mice and other rodents has failed in Oregon. If passed, the law would have effectively made all killing of animals illegal unless in self-defense. “Yes on IP28,” the group behind the initiative said, adding that they want to protect the right to life of animals. The measure drew criticism from hunting groups, ranchers, and even both the Democrat and Republican gubernatorial candidates. “I’m relieved IP-28 failed to qualify for the November ballot,” incumbent Democratic Governor Tina Kotek said, according to Fox 12.
